York MakerFest is a free event providing people to gain new skills and make new projects with the community. York MakerFest is run by the team at York Pi Jam.
We will always ask the attendees’ permission before taking photos at our events. Also we will ask every time before taking a photo in case you change your mind. At some of our bigger events we may give you a coloured sticker to show that you don’t want your photo taken on entry.
If there is any theft of data from our systems we will report it to our local data protection authority within 72 hours, if possible. If there are any data breaches on external sites (such as Eventbrite), they will contact you.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection (to make our site as efficient and as friendly as possible).
When you contact us on our website your email is sent to us and is retained by us for future use in case you email us again about the topic. We do not share your data.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service but other than that your data does not leave our organisation and is not sold on, because we don’t think companies should be built on that.
