York MakerFest - May 2020 has been postponed until further notice.
But what about our Charity of the Year?
Due to the ongoing and developing Coronavirus situation in the UK, our organisers decided to postpone the May event to keep the public and our volunteers safe.
We organised our Charity of the Year scheme so that we can support a local charity each year and fundraise at our events and throughout the year. Now York MakerFest has been postponed, St Leonard's Hospice (our Charity of the Year) sadly will not get the fundraising money we were planning to raise. We are still planning to run York MakerFest either at the end of this year or next year when everyone is safe and well, and the risk isn't as great. If the event is postponed to next year we will review the scheme so that St Leonard's Hospice will be the Charity of the Year for 2021 so they can still get the benefits that we planned.
Introducing our emergency fundraiser for St Leonard's Hospice!
This month has been hard hitting for many events... never mind charities. Charities, just like our Charity of the Year (St Leonard's Hospice), rely on fundraising events to raise much needed cash to keep their charities going. The uncertainty of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) could have a serious impact on this, with many fundraisers being cancelled for lots of charities.
We want to continue to support St Leonard's Hospice, even though our event has been postponed. We hope you can support our emergency fund and help them to continue the amazing work they do for our community. We really couldn't have chosen a better charity for our first year.
100% of your donations on our JustGiving page go to St Leonard's Hospice - remember, if you can, to add Gift-aid, you don't have to pay for Gift-aid and our charities get that bit extra.
